Rural Estate
Management
Rob works with rural landowners, whether private, commercial or charitable, to provide strategic rural estate management advice. His adaptive, forward-thinking and comprehensive approach supports his clients, with estates of all sizes, in the management of their business, and to identify worthwhile investment and development opportunities for revenue growth. In addition, Rob provides advice in respect of tax and succession planning, asset management, landlord and tenant matters, property management and estate restructuring.
Renewable Energy Schemes
As a renewable energy specialist, Rob works exclusively in the interests of landowners, advising and negotiating terms for land deals required for macro energy schemes, including solar, wind, batteries, hydro, substations, cabling schemes and interconnectors. He is also a leading voice in the organisation and management of local consortiums for energy scheme negotiations, providing robust support to communities and landowner groups and working to achieve the best possible deal for his clients.
Landlord and Tenant
Rob provides tenancy advice to farmers and landowners for properties and projects of all sizes and from individual sites to portfolios of commercial, residential or agricultural property. His pragmatic approach provides his clients with clear communication and frank advice, while ensuring that they are represented robustly but fairly during negotiations. Rob is a member of the RICS Agricultural Tenancy Monitoring Group, providing guidance and best practice support to colleagues within the industry.
Options and Leases
As a leading independent expert, Rob has substantial experience in option and lease negotiations, particularly for Renewable Energy Schemes. Indeed, Rob is the author of the RICS guidance paper ‘Negotiating Options and Leases for Renewable Energy Schemes’, which provides guidance to fellow professionals advising on land deals in the energy sector. The role does not end with the agreement of terms, but continues through the option drafting, the completion of the lease and extends through the build phase where monitoring and supervision is of paramount importance.
